Recipe: Easter Nests!

Hey babydolls,

Today, I am going to be trying something new over here on my blog....a recipe!
So, the other day me and my boyfriend decided to do some baking, and we wanted to make something that was quite easter-y, so we decided to make these little chocolate mini egg nests...don't they look yummy?!

I thought that I would share this recipe and some pictures with you so that you can have a go at them yourself!

To start off with equipment wise, you will need:
- A set of weighing scales
- A saucepan (that you can fill with water)
- A metal bowl
- A wooden spoon
- A teaspoon
- 12 bun cases

The ingredients that you will need are:
- Approx. 4 shredded wheat biscuits (works out at about 85g)
- 2 bags of mini eggs (weighing at around 100g each)
- 200g of Dairy Milk chocolate

1. First thing that you need to do is break your chocolate into small squares so that it is ready to be melted.

2. Then you need to break up your shredded wheat biscuits into tiny strands. (We poured ours into a food bag and bashed it on the kitchen worktop to break it up).

3. Next, tip your chocolate into a metal pan and balance it on top of a pan filled half way with boiling water and stir until completely melted.

4. Once melted, you then need to pour the melted chocolate onto the crushed shredded wheat and combine, till it's all chocolatey!

5. Then you need to set out your bun cases and place equal amounts of the mixture into each one.

6. Next, with the back of a teaspoon create a little dent in the middle of each, to make it look more like a nest.

7. Finally, place three mini eggs into the centre of each nest and leave to set in the fridge for 20 minutes.

8. and enjoy!!

So, that's it from me, I hope you enjoy making these nests or eating them as much as we did! If you do end up making these, please tweet me a picture, so I can see how yours have turned out!

Thankyou for reading everyone, hope you are all doing okay and are having a lovely easter.

March Favourites!

Hey babycakes',

Today I am going to be writing about all the products that I have been enjoying using throughout the month of March!

I love March as it means that Spring is finally here and it is a chance to update my makeup and skincare for the preparation of warmer weather!

So, I'm just going to crack on with my March favourites.

The first product that I have been loving through March is the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Blow-Dry Lotion Root Boosting Spray (mouthful or what?!). It took me a while to work out how this actually worked, as at first, I thought it was a really rubbish product until I managed to figure out how to use it properly. Just before I blow dry my hair, I part my hair and spray the lotion directly on to the roots, and massage it in with my finger tips.

And basically what I didn't realise, was that if you then touch your roots once you have blow dried your hair, they feel really sort of tacky, so all you have to do is massage the roots to work in the tackiness and viola, you have effortlessly looking voluminous hair. I really love this product, as, if your hair then starts to look abit limp throughout the day, you just simply re work the product into your roots, without needing to add anymore to it. Fabulous!!

The next product I have been loving this month is actually a clear mascara. However, I don't use this in the normal conventional way, I actually use this on my eyebrows to set my eyebrow powder in place and make sure that my brows are all neat and tidy.

Please excuse the disguting colour of this...its kinda old now!

This is the Collection Colour Lash Mascara in the colour Clear. This is really good at doing the job that I need it to and really does help to keep my eyebrows in shape, and they don't move an inch and neither does the powder.

Next, I have been loving the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder throughout this month. My shade is 004 Sandstorm, but I do also like to use the Transparent one sometimes.

I have been loving this loads recently as I have recently changed foundations and I think my skin is just getting used to it, but my face tends too look a little shiny after applying foundation and concealer. This powder has quickly become my go to powder and I literally don't think that I could live without this. It is incredible at controlling shine and it looks really natural on the skin, it doesn't seem to matter how much you apply, it never looks cakey!

The next product that I have been loving using this month is a skincare product. This is Soap and Glory's Scrubatomic - Amazing Daily Face Polish. With this, I basically take a small amount onto my fingertips and massage into my chin, nose and forehead every morning. This contains the tiniest little beads, that are really quite scratchy, but they are not a horrible scratchy, it just lets you know that it is doing really good things to you skin.

Oh, and it smells absolutely blumming gorgeous! Kind of like the smell of peaches, yum! After using this, it makes your skin feel super soft and clean, it really is a lovely product.

I have also been loving this body wash from Soap and Glory which is called 'Foam Call'.

This smells absolutely incredible, according to Soap and Glory the fragrance is 'the new fruitigo fragrance with notes of frozen yuzu, orange oil, green fig, and jungle pomelo essence". Whatever that is its amazing! After use, this makes your skin feel super moisturised, silky and feeling really refreshed.

My non-beauty favourite this month is actually this scarf. I picked this up from Primark earlier on this month, when I was buying some new items to update my wardrobe to spring/summer.

This scarf is super soft, and looks really good with everything. The pattern and the colours make me feel super summery, but it is still quite thick and warm while we are making the transition from colder weather to warmer. And I think it was only £4!

And finally, my not so favourite product this month is this eyeliner from L'Oreal. This is the Super Liner Perfect Slim in the colour 'Intense Black'. When I first bought this product, it looked really promising, it has a really long and thin nib, which is the perfect shape for creating specific lines and catflicks. However, I cannot express my hatred for this product enough and I am soooo annoyed!

Within 1 minute of application, after I have let this dry, it has printed and smudged all over my top lid, making me look ridiculous. I have also found it really hard to correct any mistakes made by this eyeliner, as any attempted removal just smudges everywhere. Its horrid! I have tried everything I can think of to stop any of this happening, but nothing works! Hate it!!!

So, that's it from me then lovelies! I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

Stratford-upon-Avon!

Hey angels,

So today's post is going to be my first ever lifestyle post. I've been wanting to do one of these for ages, but my life just really isn't that interesting but the other weekend I went out on a little day trip with my boyfriend, so I thought I would tell you all about it!

I hope you enjoy this new style of post on my blog and I'll just crack on with it!

Last weekend my boyfriend came down from Leeds to stay with me in Coventry for the weekend. It's always so lovely to see him as with me being so far away at Uni, we don't get to spend that much time together, and it is soooo expensive for me on the train. We had such a lovely weekend together, which was just made better by the sunny weather we had. We decided to take advantage of the weather as nice weather in Leeds and Coventry is a rarity, and have ourselves a little day trip!

We started the day off by heading up to my local weatherspoons for a good old scrummy breakfast; I decided on a bagel with cream cheese while my boyfriend opted for a traditional breakfast consisting of, bacon, sausage, eggs, the works! (and I'd be lying if I didn't say I nicked a piece of his bacon!).

After we had stuffed ourselves silly we went to the shop to pick up some snacks for the journey, such as crisps and cookies etc, and then made our way to the train station to hop on a train to Stratford-upon-Avon! The train journey was really nice apart from the fact that we had to change 2 times but an hour and a half later, we arrived in the beautiful town. We took a little stroll around the town centre (it is just soooo cute!) with quirky little shops and cafes and did a little bit of shopping.

We popped into an old sweet shop where my boyfriend just couldn't contain himself and had to buy something, and then I stumbled across a H&M and couldn't resist!

Of course, we couldn't go to Stratford with doing something a little bit touristy and going into the Shakespeare museum (as for those of you who don't know, Shakespeare was born in Stratford).

When we got to the museum, the prices were really quite high and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to afford to go in, when a lovely little old lady offered to give us her 2 tickets that she had bought previously, so that we could go in and have a look! (how cute!) So, we couldn't say no really and off we went!

It was really lovely to look round where Shakespeare was born and his houses and all the tour guides and staff were dressed up like they did in those days, which I think just made it more special. I think it took us about an hour to walk round including a gift shop, and then we had to make a move in order to catch the right train. On the way back through the town towards the train station, we stumbled upon a lovely little pasty shop (not Gregg's) and decided to go in as we were both a little peckish. The pasties were absolutely delicious, I had a Thai chicken pasty which was yummy and my boyfriend had a sausage roll, and a pain au chocolat (yum!).

I felt quite sad on the train back to be leaving such a great day and town behind and because I didn't know when we would get another lovely day together! But it really really was a lovely day!

So, if you are ever this way I urge you to pop into Stratford, we were nowhere near to seeing the whole of the town, but the bits we saw were beautiful! The centre is just toooo cute!

So there it is! I hope you enjoyed this post and as always, you can contact me by emailing me on makeupmandm@hotmail.com by following me on twitter @makeupmandm

Review: Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter!

Hey sweet-peas,

So, today I am going to do a review on the Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters as I recently purchased one from Boots.

I really like the packaging of these products (it's the simple things!). The packaging matches the colour of the lip butters which I think is a really nice touch. I also really like the fact that there is a clear window at the top of the packaging which allows you to see the actual product through it.

I am a regular sufferer of really dry and cracked lips, and find it incredibly hard to find a lipstick that doesn't stick to chapped bits of my lips and make them look down right awful! I have found that these lip butters apply really easily and smoothly and don't stick to the cracks in my lips at all, if anything it helps to stick them down and repair them.

These are really easy lip products to own as they are pretty sheer so a couple of swipes on your lips and you are ready to go without having to faff about applying a bright lipstick and making sure you don't go over the edge of your lips. I find these really moisturising and I really feel like I am wearing a lip treatment rather than a lipstick when I have this on.

The colour that I have is called 'Cotton Candy' which is a light cool-pink shade with a little bit of a gold shimmer running through it. This doesn't have a particularly great colour pay off as it is quite similar to the colour of my actual lips, so it does take quite a bit of layering up to get a decent colour.

Its not too pale or 'chalky' looking and I think this will look great with a heavy smoky eye look. I think this is more sheer and subtle than the other colours but it's nice.

These Revlon Lip Butter retail for £7.99 which if I'm honest, I think is a little bit hefty for the amount of product that you get, but I am enjoying using this! The next colour I am wanting too try out is 'Berry Smoothie', which I have heard great things about.

So, that's it from me and thankyou for reading everyone and I hope you enjoyed this post.

February Favourites!

Hey angels,

Today's post is going to be my February Favourites which is all the products I have been loving and using regularly throughout the month of February.

Ok, so I'm just going to crack on...

The first thing that I have been loving using is the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Conditioner. This is a 'deep conditioning treatment for dry and damaged hair'. According to Aussie, 'this nourishing treatment gets to work fast on damaged hair, repairing and smoothing rough cuticles, restoring manageability and shine'. I tend to use this once a week as a sort of hair mask.

Once I have shampooed and conditioned my hair I smooth a 'splodge' of this product through my hair from root to tip and leave to work it's magic for up to 3 minutes, and then wash it out. The smell of this product is amazing and it really lingers on your hair, even when you have blow dried it. I also found my hair to feel and look incredibly shiny and healthy, right up until the next time that I washed it. I honestly can't praise this product enough, it's AMAZING!

Another product I have been loving this month is this Mango Lip Butter from a brand called Delon+. Now, this is a brand that I have never heard of before, but I recently came across this in my auntie's bathroom. So, this came in a gift set along with three body butters, which I am still yet to try, that she received for Christmas.

However, she doesn't use any of the products and so she asked me if I wanted them, and I jumped at the chance of trying some products from a brand I have never heard of before. Now, this lip butter reminds me so much of the Body Shop lip butters, I don't know if it is just the packaging or what. However, whereas the Body Shop lip butters are a harder and more creamier consistency, this lip butter is much softer and a little oilier, more like the consistency of Vaseline. This makes it more moisturising and easy to wear. This has a really subtle scent of sweet mango which I really like and it has quickly become my go to lip butter.

Something else that I have been loving throughout the month of February is the Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara. I think this is by far the best mascara that I have tried to date, it really gives you amazing looking lashes, which is a tall order for me as my eyelashes are soooooo short!

This mascara really lasts all day and really doesn't flake at all even though it is not a waterproof mascara, which is good because I don't like the consistency of waterproof mascaras. This mascara really lengthens and adds tonnes and tonnes of volume to your lashes. This makes my eyelashes look the longest that they ever have done. I love this mascara!!!

I have also recently been loving this Mint Julips Lip Scrub from LUSH.

My mum recently bought this for me after listening to me moaning for ages about how dry and chapped my lips have been. First things first, this lip scrub smells absolutely incredible. It smells and tastes exactly like mint chocolate. This contains little sugar particles which help to scrub off the dead skin and once you have rubbed it in it turns into more of an oil which is really moisturising and then the idea is, is that you lick it off your lips and enjoy the minty chocolatey lovely-ness!

I have also been loving this Max Factor GlossFinity nail polish in the colour 'Ruby Fruit'. This is a lovely, glossy red/plum colour that lasts for ages on the nails! The lasting power is absolutely incredible, and hardly chips at all.

I really like the consistency of this nail polish as it is not too gloopy but also it is not too liquidy and is really really easy to apply. This has lovely gel finish and I receive loads of compliments when I have it on my fingers.

Now, my non-beauty favourite this month is actually a book or two. The Hunger Games books. I know I am probably a little bit late in reading these books but I wasn't really bothered at first after I had seen the films. However, I am now completely hooked on these books.

There is so much more in these books than there are in the films and they are so amazingly written. If you don't know anything about the Hunger Games, I will tell you a little bit of what they are about. They are basically written in the voice of a 16 year old girl called Katniss Everdeen who lives in the nation of Panem. Panem is run by the Capitol and they like to express their power over their nation by holding the Hunger Games every year in which one boy and one girl from every district fight to the death! They are amazing and I urge you to read them!

The product that I have not been loving this month is something that I didn't really want to include in this part of the post. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Lasting Finish nail polish from Rimmel London in the colour 'Double Decker Red'.
I love the colour of this nail polish as it is a really lovely red colour which I thought would be perfect for the winter months. However, it chips like you wouldn't believe. There is nothing 'lasting' about this product, within 2 days it chipped unbelievably and when I get out the shower it becomes pretty non existent. It's not a great product! I am really sorry, but I unfortunately don't have a picture of this product!

So, that's it from me and thankyou for reading everyone and I hope you enjoyed this post.

My Current Favourite Haircare Products!

Hey twinkles,

So in today's blog post, I am going to be telling you about two haircare products that I have recently been loving and using all the time.

So I hope you enjoy this blog post, and I'm just gonna crack on!

The first product I am going to be talking to you about is this Tresemme Volume & Lift Mousse. This mousse is a staple in my mum's haircare routine, and I recently came to have this in my possession when they were on offer in Boots and I think she ended up buying three and then kindly gave one to me to try out. So, let's start talking about the packaging. This I think, is it's only major downfall...it doesn't come with a lid. This concerns me a lot when I am packing to go away for the night or the weekend and I need to take it with me. I am always worried that something is going to push down on it, and its going to explode everywhere.

It smells just like all Tresemme products, which I don't particularly like as I find it quite chemically but it doesn't linger on your hair once it has dried and it doesn't overpower the smell of your shampoo either, which is good. I use about a Satsuma size amount of this product and just spread it through towel dried hair from root to tip. This product works best if you also blow dry your hair upside down, to create more volume. This product 'provides extra body and lift for lasting volume', which I love because I like my hair to be quite 'big'. I really really like this mousse compared to other mousses because, it doesn't feel crispy in your hair, if you spread it evenly, whereas some can make your hair feel really hard and unnatural. I am so glad that I came across this.

Another favourite hair product of mine is a heat protectant spray. This is the Schwarzkopf Got2be Guardian Angel Heat Protectant Spray and I love it. This is perfect for my thick hair and really helps to protect my ends from splitting due to all the straightening, blow drying and curling that I put my hair through on an almost daily basis. This product is also really cheap for the quality as I think it retails at £3.99.

This also helps to keep my hair feeling really soft and healthy and it smells absolutely amazing. I spray this all over my towel dried hair and then brush through to make sure that it is all evenly distributed before I go on to blow dry my hair. This helps to prevent breakages and gives my hair a really lovely looking shine to it. I also spray a little bit through dry hair if I am going to straighten or curl my hair in order to keep it healthy. I have been using this product for about 3 years and will never look back.

So, that's it from me and thankyou for reading everyone and I hope you enjoyed this post.

January Favourites!

Hey chicas...

...and welcome to a new series of monthly favourite posts on my blog.

On these posts I am going to be writing about the products that I have been enjoying the most through the current month, both beauty and hair related so you can see what I have been loving. I will also be including a product in these posts, that I haven't really liked or enjoyed using throughout that month!

So I hope you enjoy this post and I am just going to get on with it!

So the first thing that I have been loving through the month of January is this Bee Strong shampoo and conditioner from Herbal Essences which I recently blogged about in my Beauty Haul post. I suffer from really bad split ends which for a while were repaired by the raspberry herbal essences shampoo and conditioner, but I now find that my split ends are just snapping off, leaving me with random hairs shorter than the others. However, after using this shampoo and conditioner combination, I am finding that my hair and split ends are a lot stronger!

I really love these makeup wipes from Cherish which I think I bought from bodycare. I know loads of people disagree with using face wipes to remove makeup and I am usually one of those people, however, these are actually the best makeup wipes I have found, and they don't make me break out at all!

I have also recently been loving, Rimmel London's Match Perfection foundation, which I also blogged about in my Beauty Haul post. I actually think I am starting to prefer this to the famous Wake Me Up foundation. I really like the finish of this foundation and it just seems to be a perfect match for my really really pale skin.

The Maybelline Fit Me concealer, also deserves a spot in my favourites this month as it has quickly become my go to concealer this month, even more than the Collection one. The finish of this concealer is amazing and it completely covers up my under eye circles.

I have also really really loved using The Christmas Penguin bubble bar from Lush this month, as I received one for Christmas and I have tried to make it last as long as I can, cos I love it so much. This makes your bath a lovely sky blue colour and smells of oranges and lemons, which is really relaxing, and has left my skin feeling really soft when I get out the bath.

And finally, a non-beauty favourite of mine is the Celebrity Big Brother. Now, this is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine and I cant help but get hooked on it! And I'm not gonna lie, but I am kinda upset its all over now!:(

Now, something that I haven't liked this month is the nail polish remover by ASDA's skincare range. I think this has got to be the worst nail polish remover I have ever used, don't get me wrong, it removes all of the polish off the nails (which I guess is what you want from a remover!) however, it leaves your nails feeling really thin, flaky and dry, so not great!

So, that's it from me and thankyou for reading everyone and I hope you enjoyed this monthly favourite post.
